I have a hard time fixing my German pronunciation as well as English one.

Well I don't nesessarily have to learn how to speak German, but now I might be in trouble if I don't learn how to pronounce the words, since I have to sing songs in German.

Singing in a chorus group or Choir is the best way to fix your pronunciation of your second language, I believe.

...Well it can't fix your accent and tone but at least you can learn types of vowels, consonants and can learn how to combine them.

The reason why singing is helpful for you to fix your pronunciation is because your voice can't match other people's if you sing in wrong pronunciation.

That means the music never sounds great since there is a bad harmony due to the difference of sounds from individuals.

You never want to sing songs with discomfort, right?


I had really a hard time singing in English in Japanese boys & girls chorus club because of that.
They are too young to know about the pronunciation of other language; therefore they sing the English piece with so-called "Japanese Englsih" whose pronunciation is far away from real English.

The sound was terrible... I didn't like that at all.

You know, I can't immitate them. I didn't want to sing the beautiful English piece with aweful Japanese accent.
So I tried to sing the song with correct pronunciation as much as I can.

You can guess how yack the song in the coucert sounded like....


Now Im so happy to be able to sing in Choir whose memberes are almost all native English speakers.
But I guess Im bothering them in a same way as the kids in my old chorus club did.

My pronunciation doesn't perfectly sound right...
The problem is not just for English pieces but also for German pieces.

Since English is origined from German, native English speakers can pronounce German words easier than me.

I have problem with both vowels and consonants but the most difficult one is "speaking" consonants which is at the end of the word, like 'd' in "spread", and 'k' in "weak."

It's almost the same problem we have in Japan, that is, we have difficulity to utter the first sound at the biginning of the song.

Of course I have to pay attention to that point too, but, you know,
Japanese original words never end up with consonants except the sound "n."
They usually end with vowels, say, "watashi(私)", "ilo(色)."

And also it will sound weird if we put stress on the conconant 'n' at the end of a word.


That's why it's very very hard for me to say 'k','t','d','m',etc. at the end of the word.


I have to work hard fixing these problems before March 2nd, the day we have a music concert.

I hope I can fix my English pronunciation thorough singing those amazingly beautiful pieces.
